FATIMA MUSTAFA

, M.ED., RP.

Master of Education Concentration in Counselling Psychology from University of Ottawa

I am on maternity leave, so I am not currently accepting new clients. If you are a returning client, please get in touch with our Intake Advisors, Alana and Victoria. They will make sure you get the support you need.

Feeling stuck can be exhausting. You might be caught in worry, self-doubt, or habits you wish you could change, and still feel like you should “just handle it.” In our work together, I see us as two human beings sitting side by side, trying to understand and untangle things together. My aim is to help you get unstuck from painful thoughts and feelings, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and full.

Many people imagine therapy as a place where a professional sits behind a clipboard and judges them. That is not how I work. I bring warmth, curiosity, and respect into our sessions. I want to really get to know you—what matters to you, what gets in your way, and what kind of support actually feels helpful. We’ll build a shared understanding of your goals, your barriers, and the next small steps forward.

I often work with anxiety, OCD, insomnia, ADHD, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and life stressors. I also support people with difficult emotions like anger, guilt, and shame, and with unwanted thought and behaviour patterns or emotional dysregulation. Together, we can also build life-enhancing skills such as mindfulness, self-compassion, and social skills, so you have tools you can carry into everyday life.

My approach is grounded in Client-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness-based ideas. In simple terms, this means we’ll look at how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected, practice facing fears in a safe and gradual way, and learn to make space for difficult emotions while moving toward what you value. I’ll bring practical tools and techniques, and we’ll test together which ones truly fit you.

In our first session, I’ll focus on listening and understanding what you’re going through and what you’d like to change. We’ll talk about what matters most to you and how we can work as a team. In most sessions, we’ll start with a brief check-in about how therapy feels, what is helping, and what we might adjust, so you don’t have to guess whether this is working for you.

I hold a Master of Education with a concentration in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa and have been with The Mindfulness Clinic for many years. Outside of sessions, I enjoy trying new recipes and baking, and I’m working on being more active. I’m even learning to like running and often head out for a run with friends after work. These parts of my life help me stay grounded, compassionate, and real in the therapy room.

If you feel we might be a good fit, I’d be glad to walk alongside you as you loosen the grip of anxiety and unhelpful patterns, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
